*HUGE sigh of relief*

I just spoke to Leonie and told her I was looking elsewhere. She was really supportive and said I have to do what's best for me.

That woman is worth her weight in gold.

She also said I will have my annual leave paid out – two weeks, hurrah!

Meeting up with the CBD Lunch Brigade today. Much fun.

Anyone with a penchant for men in uniform or pretty horsies, head on down to Barrack Street… being the closest pedestrian street to Martin Place, the troops have mustered pretty much right outside my building in preparation for the anti-war/anti-globalisation protest today. So there’s the most body piercings and freaked out hairstyles I’ve seen in the city since May Day. I saw a couple of kiddies heading towards MP sporting studded collars, piercings, multiple pigtails… and Levis® jeans, Royal Elastics™ shoes and adidas™ bags. For God’s sake, if you must be disruptive, at least figure out what your principles are and bloody well stick by them.

Grumpy and upset. The sun hasn’t shone in days and the guy they are blaming for the Bali attacks was on the news last night smiling and waving. Maybe TV isn’t so great afterall.

Tinky was very sweet this morning though. Lots of cuddles.

How could I forget the pain involved in leg waxing? And how could I inflict this on myself? When I know I do an extremely shoddy job because I get bored/annoyed half way through? I am a sucker for advertising, I saw the new Veet aquasystem roll on waxing kit on TV and thought, “My goodness, that looks easy!”

WRONG!

It is messy, the parts don’t fit together properly so you end up with wax EVERYWHERE, and the “cloth” strips are NOT reusable.

And did I mention the pain?

I blame my dad. If I hadn’t copped his hairy gene, and had scored mum’s hairless White Russian gene (she got it from her mum, why didn’t I?), I wouldn’t be in this situation. Nor would I have patchy, spotty legs.

And I managed to poke holes in every pair of stockings I own this morning (wasted time on waxing = didn’t have time to file nails) so I am barelegging it.

In spite of this I am having a great day. Called Mum and Dad this morning for their anniversary (31 years, yeah!) and had a good chat to them. Surprisingly was not late however. Chinese last night was awesome, I am understanding so much more and soaking up new vocab like a sponge. I had an interesting time on Friday night, after a couple of cocktails and several beers I discovered that one of Tina’s friends is from Taiwan, around the same time she discovered I speak Mandarin. I am much less self-conscious when drunk (no comments from the peanut gallery, thank you!) so we nattered away for awhile which was quite cool.

And… it’s SALSA DAY!!!! (I think this needs some kind of fanfare or theme music…) Miss Katrin may be coming along tonight, as may the Groovy Chick herself :) Wheeee!

The cheek!

Right, we're not getting a new PA, so they have reshuffled the existing PAs. They asked me if I would mind moving to keep one of the other PAs company. Much as I like her, I like a) natural light, b) being situated away from the advisers and c) not having filing cabinets directly behind my desk.

So I said no.

Felt like saying, "What the hell does it matter, I'm leaving soon", but refrained.
I just typed a whole letter without looking at my fingers or the keyboard once. This is quite a feat as I have never learned to type properly, much to my mother's chagrin (Mum types at about 80 w.p.m and she has been clocked above 90).

I am not at all interested in working today. Have found the crossword of the day on dictionary.com. Why, why, why do I no longer have an office? Had a good chat to the woman at the agency this morning, she asked why I want to leave and I had fun explaining that without using the quick summary, "Because it's f*&ked and I deserve better". It could be summarised that way, but I was much nicer about it.
TVs suck time. No two ways about it.

I went out to Jodi’s place last night – she went to see mum and dad on the weekend and brought back my Christmas present early :) So we trooped out to Toongabbie, got fed, had time with my gorgeous nephew (even got to read him his bed time story), chatted with Jodi and Dave, and picked up my TV!! Hooray! Got home, set it up… then sat mesmerised watching this box with moving pictures. I realised after the late news had finished (on ALL channels) that I had homework to do – so sat up until about 1:30. I am so damn tired today it’s not funny. And I have an interview at 11:30. Argh.

I had another interview today but I postponed it. Note to self – never think Monday morning is an okay time for anything.

Weekend was great. Friday night involved Kuletos (nuff said) followed by Pide and beer at the Lonergan residence. Tina (PhD) graduated so there was huge cause for celebration. Dan is back from the UK (via Viet Nam) and regaled us all with many whacky tales. May I say at this point that Lonely Planet is responsible for a lot.

Saturday we bought Ro and Tina’s wedding present – thank God for Bridal Registries! But boo to the start of Christmas shopping season. It truly sucks, I think I will have to buy all my gifts over the net. After that we made a mad dash to Symphony – stopping on the way for ice cream because it was so darn hot. What a mistake-a to make-a. We ended up sitting outside for the Rachmaninov, which was the one we really would have liked to have seen (pianist doing manual athletics). The Beethoven was a tad boring but at least it was cooler in the theatre.

After a nap, we decided it was necessary to go watch telly at J’s house. His parents are in a bit of a frenzy cleaning up for the wedding reception – I scored an hibachi! Perfect! And once the reception is over and there’s no longer a pressing need for tables, I will have my very own folding card table!

Yesterday we went to the Newtown Festival with Nina, a friend from school. It was awesome, lots of great food - German sausage with sauerkraut and wholegrain mustard innabun for lunch, followed by a plate of lovely Poffertjes (Dutch pikelets) with berry sauce. We got a little bit sunburnt which is a real pain – the new tanline is going to look ridiculous with the dress I’m wearing to the wedding, and besides, I will be peeling by then! Ack.

…Okay, that is truly odd. I was just looking on the net for the spelling of poffertjes and came across a site that has a monthly recipe on the front page, and nothing else but links to porn sites!

Ahem… after the festival we drank beer and played pool at my local, then headed to Pasky and Lou’s for a BBQ. It was awesome to see everyone and there was lots of yummy food… and more beer :) A late night for a school night (and much more active than my standard Sunday), but all in all a most excellent weekend.
